ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — One person was evaluated and a Georgia Tech building was evacuated after a possible exposure to a small amount of a hazardous material Monday night, according to officials.
A Georgia Tech spokesperson said the possible exposure happened after a cleaning product was spilled in the campus recreation center’s mechanical room. The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department said it was muriatic acid that was spilled.
The building was evacuated as a precaution, the spokesperson said. The building has since reopened.
Fire officials said the person was evaluated for “possible exposure and symptoms and was released.”
