ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A 74-year-old man shot a woman at a business near an Athens high school Monday morning, then shot himself when deputies pulled over his car in another county, authorities said.

Around 6:38 a.m., Athens-Clarke County police said they responded to reports of gunshots on the 900 block of Baxter Street, near Clarke Central High School.

Officers reportedly found a woman inside a business with gunshot wounds. She was taken to the hospital.

Police did not specify the business where the shooting happened.

Authorities identified the suspect as Carl Clark, 74, of Athens.

Athens police issued a bulletin for other law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for Clark.
