SUMTER, S.C. (WIS) - The Sumter Police Department is working to identify a possible suspect after shots were fired near a public park toward an apartment complex Monday.

Officers with the Sumter police were called around 2:30 p.m. after they said a man was reportedly seen firing shots from a public park near South Purdy Street and South Gunigard Drive toward a group of people who were said to be gathered outside a South Gunigard Drive apartment complex.

No injuries were reported, according to officers.

The police department said that the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, but they are trying to identify a person who was caught on video surveillance at the scene around the time of the incident.
