Human remains found in Otsego Township last month have been identified as a missing 48-year-old Allegan County woman.
Michigan State Police in the Fifth District say the burned remains were found by troopers out of the Wayland post on November 13 when they were called to the 600 block of Lincoln Road on a missing person and welfare check complaint.
Evidence from the scene was processed by the MSP Grand Rapids Lab, and anthropologists from Western Michigan University were brought in to excavate the remains.
State police say the woman’s manner of death remains unknown and the investigation remains open. Her name has not been released.
Anyone with information on the death is asked to contact Michigan State Police.
