WATERLOO, Iowa — Crews across Eastern Iowa are diligently working to ensure road safety following the weekend's snowfall.

In the Cedar Valley and throughout the state, road crews have been spreading salt extensively to combat the snow. Waterloo city officials confirmed on Monday that their crews are actively clearing roads of snow and ice. They have focused on scraping priority areas, applying additional salt to hard-packed spots, and employing multiple shifts to maintain road conditions.

The Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) noted that the effectiveness of their materials depends on road temperatures.
