TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Southern Arizona students are fighting rising teen tobacco use by learning to educate their friends about the dangers of smoking and vaping.
that A study from the University of California Davis found that when students smoke or vape, they get lower grades and miss more school.
The CDC said tobacco use in teenagers is rising. More than one in four high school students smoke or vape, and many said they started in middle school.
Students trained to notice peer pressure
Grettel Granados, an Anza Trail Elementary student, said there are people at school who have been peer-pressured into vaping.
Fellow student Sofia Tamietti noticed it too.
“I had a cousin, and she was dabbling, trying to see, and she was falling to peer pressure,” Tamietti said
