Mayor-elect Helena Moreno plans to tap outgoing Councilmember Joe Giarrusso to serve as her chief administrative officer, according to multiple sources on her transition team.

Moreno, who takes over at City Hall on Jan. 12, is expected to announce her selection of Giarrusso as her top deputy at a press conference Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the transition, Todd Ragusa, declined to comment Monday on Moreno's pick for chief administrative officer, saying only that the mayor-elect "will be announcing key members of the administration tomorrow."

But two others on the team and familiar with Moreno's plans said Giarrusso is the top choice. Giarrusso declined to comment on Monday.
