A motorcyclist shot and killed in central Phoenix over the weekend has been identified as a Maricopa resident.

Phoenix Police Department said 53-year-old Job Martinez, a Tortosa resident, was involved in an altercation with another motorcyclist near 7th Avenue and Interstate 17 around 10:50 p.m. Friday.

When officers arrived, both motorcyclists were found with life-threatening injuries and transported to the hospital, where they later died.

“Preliminary information suggests that two motorcycle riders were stopped at a traffic light near the I-17 Freeway and 7th Avenue, when one rider shot the other rider. The driver of a car nearby saw the man shooting and hit him with his car, causing life-threatening injuries,” a press release stated .
