CAMPBELL, Mo. (KFVS) - The suspect in an arson investigation in Campbell, Missouri has been identified.
Arson believed to be cause of church fire
According to online court records, Derrick Rice of Campbell is charged with second-degree arson after a fire at the General Baptist Church on November 27 at around 6 p.m.
The church was reportedly vacant, and a section of it was burned previously, a couple of years ago.
Documents show that the night of the fire, an officer with the Campbell Police Department was flagged down by a witness.
The witness told the officer they were driving near the church when they saw Rice standing near a doorway to the building, holding a flaming object.
They said Rice then threw the flaming object inside and ran away.
