LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker interviewed for the Tulane coaching job on Monday, a source revealed, as the Green Wave wasted no time in its search to replace Jon Sumrall.
Baker, 43, played linebacker for Tulane from 2000-04 and is considered one of the top defensive coordinators in the country. He spent this year and last at LSU after having the same role at Missouri the two previous seasons.
Missouri finished 33rd in the FBS in yards allowed in both of his years there.
Baker inherited a defensive mess at LSU, which ranked 105th in yards allowed in 2023, and improved those numbers to 61st in 2024 and No. 25 this season. He is considered a strong candidate to stay on with the Tigers under new coach Lane Kiffin.
