Work is well underway on what is being touted as the largest clean energy project in U.S. history, which is expected to be up and running sometime next year.

Pattern Energy owns and is building the combined SunZia Wind and SunZia Transmission Project in the Estancia Valley in Central New Mexico, where more than 900 wind turbines will be connected to a 550-mile transmission line that will be able to supply electricity to nearly 1 million homes in New Mexico, Arizona and the Southwest.

The project will cost $11 billion and is expected to generate a total economic benefit of $20.5 billion.
