SANTA FE, N.M. —
A 59-year-old man has been charged with arson in connection with a fire Sunday night at the Las Palomas apartment complex on Hopewell Street, a city of Santa Fe news release said.
Santa Fe Police Department officers responded to a call from the apartments around 8:20 p.m. and went to the living room of an apartment on the second floor that was on fire and producing thick smoke.
Worried that the fire would spread to other apartments, officers evacuated adjacent apartments while other officers used handheld fire extinguishers until the Santa Fe Fire Department came and quickly put out the fire.
