COLUMBIA — Winter weather blanketed Columbia on Monday.
A 24-person snowplow crew was on duty Monday and began treating roads in the early morning hours, Columbia Public Works Department spokesperson John Ogan said.
The city asked drivers to move vehicles off first- and second-priority snow routes around 12:30 p.m.
When snowfall exceeds 2 inches, parking is prohibited on those snow routes.
First-priority roads include major residential and arterial streets used for public safety needs, and second-priority roads include heavily traveled collector and residential streets, city and school bus routes, and streets leading to schools, hospitals and other key locations, according to the Public Works Department.
