EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - Emily Berge had three goals when she was elected Eau Claire City Council President. Now she hopes to take those goals to Congress.

Berge announced Monday she will not be seeking another term as council president and instead will focus on her campaign for Wisconsin's 3rd Congressional District. Berge is running as a Democrat along with Eau Claire small business owner Rebecca Cooke and former Ho-Chunk Nation legislator Rodney Rave. The winner of the primary will run against Republican Rep. Derrick Van Orden in the general election in November 2026.

Berge began serving on the city council in 2018, then was elected to council president in the spring of 2023. After that election Berge told 18 News she had three goals: create more housing options in the city, increase the
