JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - As a winter storm system approaches, the Illinois Department of Transportation has been hard at work getting the roads ready in southern Illinois.

Crews were out all day on Monday, pretreating roads with a liquid salt mixture.

IDOT says that crews are fully staffed and ready for whatever comes our way.

However, IDOT’s District 9 Chief of Operations Rob Graeff said the biggest concern with this event is the multiple construction projects still in progress. He is hoping folks know not to let their guard down through work zones.

“If you have snow events, it just complicates things more. People need to make sure they’re paying extra attention through those work zones. Just take your time. That’s all we ask,” he said.
