While its gingerbread village is a highlight, it’s not the only reason visitors flock to the Hotel Captain Cook each holiday season.
The Anchorage hotel transforms into a full-fledged holiday showcase, complete with sparkling trees, twinkling lights, wrapped presents, and even a towering nutcracker.
This festive magic is all thanks to the hotel’s five-person Christmas Squad, who spend an entire week decorating and bringing the holiday spirit to life.
“I think it's the pride that we put into it because we hear so much back from the community and from our associates here in the hotel. Everybody loves that. So I think that's what makes everybody happy. And it gives us a little drive,” said Frank Gunnip, a cook at the hotel.
For an extra festive touch, Santa Claus will be in the main lobby
