LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Millions of Americans are taking advantage of online deals for Cyber Monday, but thieves are looking for any chance to steal personal information, access accounts or steal gifts.
The Laredo Police Department (LPD) said shoppers need to keep their eyes open, especially if they are meeting in person to follow through with an online sale.
“We highly recommend meeting at a public place, with daylight and witnesses,” said Joe Baeza, LPD. “There are certain areas you can go to, you can go to here at the police department, there’s cameras at the front of the building, that way you’ll have a little more protection if you’re trying to buy or sell an item.”
