TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Major traffic restrictions started Monday at the intersection of Grant Road and Alvernon Way as part of the Grant Road Improvement Project’s underground infrastructure updates.

For safety reasons, Alvernon Way and Grant Road will allow one direction of travel in each direction. Left turns in all directions are restricted as well.

Erica Frazelle with the Department of Transportation said the project will enhance access for various transportation methods.

“There is pedestrian facilities, HAWK lights, bus transportation pullouts, as well as widening the road to six lanes,” Frazelle said.

At completion, the Grant Road improvement project will include six travel lanes, landscaped medians, buffered bike lanes, sidewalks, transit stop upgrades, indirect left turn
