Three people were convicted and a fourth was acquitted in the 2023 slaying of a Dearborn business owner after an attempted carjacking.

Lindsay Thurmond, Dawanne Midgett, Quentin Goston and Devon Green were charged with killing Hassan Salame, who owned Lama's Florist in Dearborn, in 2023.

Salame, 29, was shot around 9:30 p.m. Sept. 19, 2023, following an attempted carjacking outside Xushi Ko restaurant on Ford Road in Dearborn, police said. Salame and a woman were walking to their vehicle when the attempted carjacking took place, police said. Salame was killed; the woman was not injured.
