LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Chennault International Airport will receive more than $20 million in federal funding from FEMA for a major expansion that includes a new paint hangar and is expected to create more than 100 jobs in Southwest Louisiana.

“Today is a great day for economic development in the region. Thanks to the governor, thanks to the president, thanks to FEMA. We’ve got $20+ million coming to Chennault, and what that’s going to do is produce over 100 new jobs over the course of the next several years,” said Kevin Melton, executive director at Chennault International Airport.

The airport already paints aircraft of all sizes, but the new hangar will help them meet demand and add capacity for more clients.
