ST PAUL, Minn. — The icy cold temps this week are creating prime conditions for building Ice Castles .
Artisans are hard at work at the State Fair Grounds, freezing and harvesting ice to create the frozen fortress. Weather permitting, the castle will be open in early January.
"Once you're out here, you realize how beautiful it is and so nice," said Tim Bauman. "We've got slides, we're going to have a bar, drinks and food for kids."
Guests can explore ice slides, towers, tunnels and caves decorated by elaborate ice sculptures and illuminated by LED lights. Advance tickets go on sale at icecastles.com Tuesday morning.
