PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A fire broke out early Monday at a home in Peoria’s West Bluff, and a fire department investigator believes it started in a basement furnace.
The fire broke out in the 2100 block of North Machin Avenue. The person who lived there returned home shortly before 7 a.m., saw smoke, and called 911, said Battalion Chief Josh Martin.
He said smoke was showing from the front of the house. Firefighters shut off the gas and electricity and ventilated the smoke-filled home, according to Martin.
No one was injured, and damage was estimated at $15,000.
Martin said the resident was not displaced. The fire department lists the cause as accidental due to a faulty furnace.
