A 57-year-old man was sentenced to prison Monday for the 2023 fatal shooting of a U.S. Navy veteran in Birmingham.

Jefferson County Circuit Judge Michael Streety sentenced Timothy Lee Williams to 30 years in prison for the slaying of Rodger Davis, a 65-year-old grandfather of three.

Williams was convicted in September after a two-day trial.

Deputy District Attorneys Blake Owens and Bella Colombo prosecuted the case. Williams was represented by Antonio Spurling.

Court records show Williams has filed a motion for a new trial.

West Precinct officers were dispatched at 1:40 a.m. that Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, to a report of a person shot in the 600 block of 13th Street Ensley.
