WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Wichita Public Schools is asking the community for help to give homeless students and families a merry Christmas as the district has seen an increase in homeless students this year.
The district has over 1,400 homeless students this year, said Kowonia Bowen, WPS McKinney-Vento program specialist.
With the holidays approaching, the McKinney-Vento program, which provides support for homeless students, wants every child to have a gift for Christmas.
“Let’s give them something that they can have that they can move with them from place to place to place,” Bowen said.
