Every day, police officers respond to reports of all sorts of events and nonevents, most of which never make the news. Here is a sampling of lesser-known — but no less noteworthy — incidents from police log books (a.k.a. blotters) in our communities.

CRUISER COMES THROUGH

When a 78-year-old man suffering from dementia wandered away from his home in Avon on Sept. 18, Cruiser, the Wrentham Police Department’s community resource dog, came to the rescue and tracked him down. As a reward for finding the missing man, Cruiser got a special treat from his handler, Sergeant Dan Morris, and earned high praise from Wrentham Police Chief Bill McGrath. “Though many were searching for the gentleman, Cruiser cruised right to his location, tracking and locating him in the woods behind a school,” McG
