TRENTON, Fla. (WCJB) - Voters in the City of Trenton will head to the polls Tuesday to select the next commissioner for the Group 1 seat, a local election drawing heightened attention following the city’s recent vote to dissolve much of its police department to help fund a major road-paving project.
Three candidates are on the ballot: incumbent Russ Williams, challenger Nicole Riley Deen, and challenger Terry Livesay. The decision comes as many residents say safety, transparency, and trust in city leadership have become the community’s top concerns.
Nicole Riley Deen, one of the challengers, said strengthening public services, especially public safety, would be her first priority if elected.
“My top priority included strengthening our public safety which I know they just voted on,” Deen
