SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio pediatrician who was accused of sexually assaulting one of his patients has been temporarily suspended by the Texas Medical Board, according to a news release.
Gabriel Perez, 50, was arrested on Nov. 21 for aggravated assault of a child. Officials said the victim, estimated to be between 10 and 16 years old, had made an outcry to his parents. They then contacted local authorities.
On Nov. 25, a disciplinary panel of the board temporally suspended the Texas medical license of Perez without notice, effective immediately.
The board determined that "his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare."
A temporary suspension hearing with notice is planned to be held with 10 days' notice to Perez, unless he waives it.
