HOLYOKE — Holyoke firefighters are fighting a blaze on Clemente Street this afternoon.

The fire broke out around 4 p.m. at 131 Clemente St., a multi-unit apartment building.

City Councilor Carmen Ocasio said at the scene that there’s about 35 families living in the building. Affected families were being moved to Morgan Street Public School to receive emergency services.

Around 5 p.m., Holyoke firefighters were fighting the blaze from two sides of the building.

Holyoke Emergency Management Department officials were on scene, along with officials from the state Department of Fire Services, Chicopee Fire Department and the Springfield Fire Department.

The building next door also was burned by fire.
