MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The City of Beloit officially has a new Chief of Police.
Schonella Stewart was sworn in as Chief of Police on Monday evening at Beloit College’s Eaton Chapel after being appointed as chief late last month.
After serving 19 years in law enforcement in Oak Park, Illinois, Stewart was offered the position at chief back in October.
Stewart’s experience includes working as a patrol officer all the way up to commander. She also served on multiple task forces, such as Homicide and the Internet Crimes Against Children task forces.
Stewart hopes to spend her time as chief emphasizing leadership and responsibility, as well as policing with dignity and respect.
