COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Transportation is mobilizing crews across the state for what officials are calling the first statewide snow event of the season, with 150 crews in central Ohio prepared to work overnight into early morning hours to keep roads clear.
"This will kinda be our first statewide snow event," said Matt Bruning, press secretary for the Ohio Department of Transportation.
ODOT crews spent the day pre-treating roads, loading trucks and preparing equipment so workers can quickly deploy when the snow begins. The department's primary concern is not the amount of snowfall, but rather its timing relative to the morning commute.
"A couple of inches overnight, no problem. A couple of inches during the morning commute, that's a big problem," Bruning said.
