The National Park Service (NPS) is already preparing for a challenging season at Acadia National Park in Maine. As visitor numbers drop and services scale back, the weather also becomes significantly less predictable—making certain parts of the park more difficult or even unsafe to access without proper knowledge.
Because of these seasonal changes, Acadia National Park officials recently announced that they will implement vehicle access restrictions to key areas as a precaution. They have also warned those wanting to visit during the winter months to "have a backup plan" as conditions become less stable.
Here's what travelers should expect while visiting Acadia National Park this winter.
