A fast-moving fire erupted inside a North Bellmore home, sending thick smoke into the neighborhood and injuring two firefighters, the Nassau County Police Department announced on Monday, Dec. 1.
Officers rushed to 800 Sacco Place at 6:14 p.m. after reports of a house fire. When they arrived, heavy smoke was pouring from the home and flames were already visible, according to the police.
The Bellmore Fire Department, along with multiple neighboring companies, worked to knock down the blaze as the Nassau County Fire Marshal and the Arson Bomb Squad responded to the scene for the investigation.
Two firefighters were hurt while battling the flames and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported, police said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
