MANITOWOC, Wis. (WBAY) - The Manitowoc community had the opportunity to make their voices heard on a proposed recommendation that would reconfigure schools.

The district cited declining enrollment as the reason for the changes, hosting a listening session at the Lincoln High School auditorium.

At Monday night’s meeting, both sides presented their arguments for why the changes should or shouldn’t happen.

The proposal includes closing two elementary schools and transitioning a third school into an early learning center. The students would then consolidate into the remaining schools.

One parent says he wants to take things one step at a time, starting with the high school.
