PETERS TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
Peters Township is considering a new option when it comes to an EMS provider for the community.
“One of the local firemen and two of his children were in a fatal accident on Route 19. They said they may have survived if there was an ambulance,” said Brian DeLong, the Commander of VFW Post 764. Advertisement
Ever since that happened in 1963, DeLong said the VFW has provided ambulance service to Peters Township and the surrounding communities.
According to the commander, the VFW employs about 28 EMS workers.
In a statement on Facebook, Peters Township EMS said the VFW can no longer financially support the ambulance service on its own because of “growing operational costs and diminishing rates of returns from insurance.”
