A man was found dead on the side of the road Sunday night in an Absecon neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man lying in the roadway in the area of South Shore Road and Iowa Avenue around 6 p.m. They found the body on the shoulder with visible signs of trauma, according to a statement from the Absecon Police Department.

No additional information was released Monday evening as the incident was still under investigation by the department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The agencies asked anyone with information about the incident or anyone who was in the area Sunday evening to contact the department’s criminal investigations division at (609) 641-0667, ext. 214.
