CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - This weekend’s winter storm forced some small businesses to close early or remain closed on Small Business Saturday, prompting one local owner to call for community support during the challenging weeks ahead.

Tim Palmer, owner of Salsa Guy Cafe, was among the business owners who closed early due to snow. He is now asking people to be intentional about where they spend their money to help small businesses weather the economic impact of the storm.

“For dinner, our dining room is normally full, and this time of the year, with weather-affected business, it really does affect our business levels, and it’s not just me, it’s several other locally owned businesses as well,” Palmer said.
