Oklahoma received a cold and wet reminder Monday of the start of meteorological winter, and insurance experts are underscoring measures homeowners can take to mitigate the potential for costly weather-related damages.

Much of the state has seen flurries and freezing drizzle in the last 24 hours. These conditions can cause damage to home exteriors and pipes, sometimes resulting in expensive damage if steps to properly winterize one's home aren't taken.
