PARKLAND, Wash. — A Parkland family is grateful to be alive after bullets fired during a street-racing takeover tore through their home on Saturday night, striking their fence, garage and truck while they were inside.
"People are pretty reckless, and they feel invincible," said Steven Corning, the homeowner.
Deputies say they received multiple 911 calls about street racers taking over the intersection of 108th Street South and Park Avenue South on the Saturday night after Thanksgiving. However, authorities were unable to shut it down because they did not have enough deputies available.
The gathering drew a large crowd to the small residential intersection. Corning described “over 100" people in attendance as tire marks left behind illustrated what had unfolded.
