A 38-year-old nurse, Emmanuel Sikalamwa, has been found dead in an apparent suicide at a woodlot belonging to Kamphenga Community Day Secondary School in Dowa.

Mponela Police spokesperson Macpatson Msadala confirmed the tragic incident, saying Sikalamwa had recently been dismissed from Madisi Mission Hospital and had relocated with his family to Chisepo in hopes of starting afresh.

According to police, on Sunday Sikalamwa informed his wife that he was travelling to Kasuntha Trading Centre to visit her mother. However, he never returned home.

His body was discovered the following day around 10 a.m., when students heading into the woodlot to study for their end-of-term examinations found him hanging from a tree.
