SOLON, Ohio -- Solon Fire Rescue is partnering with Olivia’s Dream this holiday season to help bring comfort to children and families across Northeast Ohio.
The department is collecting new, unwrapped toys through Dec. 11 at the Solon Community Center as part of the regional toy drive that honors the memory of 8-and-a-half-year-old Olivia Schneider.
The drive supports Toys for Tots and provides gifts directly to families who have experienced traumatic events.
Lt. and paramedic Shaun Parsons said becoming involved felt like a natural extension of the department’s service mission.
“As firefighters, we are engaged in the communities we work in and live in, assisting in any manner requested,” Parsons said.
