A woman who had been fit and healthy started to suffer a series of coughs and colds in October 2023, and found herself heading into Christmas with 'the worst cold ever', until doctors found out what was really going on. Rebecca Elsdon, 32, dismissed the sniffles as a seasonal bug and ploughed on through her work in recruitment and the usual Christmas parties.

Rebecca, from Edinburgh, said: "From October, I had been going from one cold to another. Due to the time of year I didn’t think much of it but when it dragged on I went to the GP, who said she thought it was a viral infection and gave me antibiotics."
