EDDIE HOWE would like to “freshen up” Newcastle United ’s squad during next month’s transfer window – but is yet to have firm discussions with the club’s hierarchy over plans for January.

Howe has previously spoken of his desire to make additions in every window, if possible, and while January is often a difficult time to do business, sources suggest there is an intention to be active in the transfer market at the start of next year.
