Nearly a foot of snowfall on the Grand Mesa and cooler temperatures will allow Powderhorn Mountain Resort to open this Friday, Dec. 5.

The resort posted the announcement of its opening day on Facebook Monday, thanking their followers for their help in bringing in the much needed snow.

“Thanks to all your fervent snow dances, best wishes and pre-opening rituals, Mother Nature has relented,” the resort posted. “(Ten) inches of the good stuff has blanketed the Resort, and we’re thrilled to announce our official 2025-26 Winter Opening Day is Friday, Dec. 5.”

The resort had originally planned to open Nov. 21, but that date was pushed back by warm and dry fall weather.
