An Edinburgh mum who pioneered a cancer support charity after an incurable diagnosis has been awarded an honorary doctorate. Jen Hardy was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in 2017, and 'made it count for good' by helping others affected.
Now, she's been awarded an honorary doctorate from Heriot-Watt University . Jen successfully campaigned for the life-extending drug Pertuzumab to made available on NHS Scotland.
She founded Cancer Card in 2021, which offers hundreds of services and has 'revolutionised how people access cancer support'. Jen began working with Heriot-Watt in 2007, and was the university's Timetable Officer for 12 years.
It was on a work trip to the Dubai Campus in 2017 when she received an urgent call from her doctor. Jen had been suffering from a bad throat
