Drivers on the M40 face nightmare delays on Tuesday morning due to a collision. National Highways warned one out of three lanes were closed on the motorway southbound in Oxfordshire.

The delays affected junctions 11 and 9, the organisation said. It added on a X message shortly before 7.45am: "There's a 50 minute delay on approach with 5.5 miles of congestion." A live map from National Highways suggested shortly after 8am there were delays of one hour against expected traffic
