Neighbor Sprints Toward Flames to Rescue Child Standing Just Feet From Fast-Moving Blaze

Cypress trees next to a Larchmont duplex went up in flames on Thanksgiving night, and a 7-year-old girl was pulled from danger thanks to a neighbor who happened to be an off-duty Los Angeles paramedic.

When flames erupted near the Oakwood Avenue residence, most occupants managed to escape quickly. But Savannah Vasquez froze on the front doorstep after calling out to her grandmother, unsure of what to do as the fire grew just feet away.
