Indiana's congressional election landscape would change drastically should the map that House Republicans proposed Dec. 1 be signed into law.
Where Democrats have previously held onto two strongholds in the state's urbanized Indianapolis and northwest-Indiana regions, their chances of success would plummet in this new map, according to an analysis by PlanScore, a nonprofit that analyzes political maps.
In those districts ― the 1st Congressional District in northwest Indiana and the 7th Congressional District in Indianapolis ― the current congressional map passed in 2021 after the last census gives Democrats a 78% and 99% chance of winning, respectively.
