ST. GEORGE, S.C. (WCSC) — Dorchester County Sheriff Sam Richardson says his first year in office has shown that public safety depends on more than patrols or policies; it relies on residents willing to speak up.

Richardson, who was elected after longtime Sheriff L.C. Knight retired in 2023, is hosting his second town hall Tuesday evening to gather feedback directly from the people he serves.

His first town hall in June, he said, revealed gaps in resources for Kings Grant residents and opened a wider conversation about how the sheriff’s office operates differently from municipal law enforcement.
