PEORIA, Ill. – Snow returned to the Peoria area Monday afternoon and tapered off around midnight. That snow did make driving Monday night a little tricky, as road crews focused their attention on the arterial routes.
Peoria Public Works’ Nick McMillion said Snowfighters continue to treat and plow primary routes through the city as part of the ongoing 24-hour operations.
Once snowfall reaches two inches with this system, crews will reenter residential neighborhoods to plow and treat those streets after the snow has stopped, and the primary roads are all treated.
McMillion said drivers should be mindful of slippery conditions developing through Tuesday morning. Use caution, reduce speed, increase following distance, and plan for additional travel time.
