HURON COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The Huron County man accused in the murder and disappearance of his girlfriend in 2017, will be in court Tuesday for a final pre-trial hearing.
Frederick Reer’s jury trial is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2026.
Reer is charged with murder, tampering with evidence, and gross abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of Amanda Dean.
Dean, a 36-year-old mother of four, was last seen on July 11, 2017 in Collins.
In December 2022, Huron County Sheriff detectives re-opened their investigation into Dean’s disappearance.
Investigators executed a search warrant in November 2023 at a home belonging to Reer’s father. It remains unknown what investigators discovered during their search.
Reer was taken into custody on Feb. 9. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and
